FRIDAY: THE OTHER PERSON’S RESPONSE

By Amanda Gore

The other person’s response doesn’t matter! Forgive them whether they know you have done it or not.

When we forgive others, we need to be completely unattached to the other person’s response or reaction to our forgiving them. If we forgive someone else and expect some change from him or her, are we forgiving for the right reason?

Our forgiveness should be unconditional. We have made a choice to live a life of forgiveness, no matter what anyone else does or does not do, or how they respond to our forgiving them!

You have already had a couple of days to practice forgiveness. Today, check to see if you are able to forgive without any expectation of what another person should or should not do. Be honest. If you are expecting something from them—stop now! Forgiveness is not true forgiveness if you expect something in return.

What is important is that you know you have forgiven them—and God knows you have forgiven them! That’s all that matters. Your changed behavior and calmer nature can tell the rest of the world! And You can move on. Ta-Da!
