MONDAY: BREAKING THE BONDS
“When you hold resentment toward another, you are bound to that person or condition by an emotional link that is stronger than steel. Forgiveness is the only way to dissolve that link and get free.”
Minister and inspirational author Catherine Ponder
In your seven minutes, you reflected on all those who have “done you wrong.” When you cling to those negative feelings, whose heart, soul and spirit are being damaged? Yours.
You are, however, connected to them with a “stronger than steel” bond while you hold unforgivenenss. While we carry grudges, resentment, anger, guilt or shame towards anyone, they are living with and inside us!
Today your mission is to forgive these people. Sit quietly by yourself somewhere, make a list of these people, and look individually at each name. Try to connect with the soul or spirit of that person—not their personality. If we can look past a personality and see more deeply into their spirit being and soul, we see a very different picture. We see their true nature, and not the selfish, egotistical, win at all costs, often misguided “human” personality.
After you have thought about this person and realized they did not know what they were doing, give them grace and hold them in your heart. Try to do this for at least a minute—a minute is a long time when you are doing this! Then let them dissolve into the light. Stop, breathe deeply a few times, notice how you feel, and place the next person into your heart.
When you have finished, send all of these people zoots. Try to see little zoots going from your heart to theirs. If you can’t do that, ask God to sit with you and the other person and bathe you both in his light and love. Or ask your Guardian Angel to help you. (Maybe they can go to the other person’s Guardian Angel and the two of them can work out a resolution! If this sounds a little “out there” for you, try it anyway—you may be surprised!)
