SUNDAY: SPIRITUALLY RE-ENERGISE
“The more you lose yourself in something bigger than yourself, the more energy you will have”
Norman Vincent Peale
This is the day to tap into the giant “battery” in the sky or all around you. Make a commitment to find your spiritual renewal center—it’s really inside you, not outside!
Be quiet and spend time with God, or whatever spiritual source you believe in, or be in nature. Spend time with children—yours or someone else’s! Whenever we play with our God-children, we go home physically tired, but spiritually renewed and energized. We love spending time with them.
Contemplate, meditate, sit in silence and allow the silence to gently seep into your soul. Try talking to God like he’s a person sitting with you—He really is!
If you don’t know how to meditate, you can simply sit and pray. (Kneeling and praying is even better!) Or sit in a quiet spot on your own and focus on nothing but your breathing. Imagine your breath flowing in and out of your solar plexus. Or instead of focusing on your breathing, you can find a sound that relaxes you. Perhaps ahhhh or ommmm or whatever sound you like that works for you.
Your mind will wander to other thoughts but just gently bring it back to your focus. Our mind is designed to think, so it is almost impossible to stop it. However we can train it to rest every so often!
Try to make a time every day at the same time so that you do this for five to seven minutes. That’s the minimum amount of time that lets you receive the benefits. You can spend longer if you wish—20 minutes a day is great! Some days you may need longer than others.
For me, slowing down and truly feeling God’s presence is what really recharges me. I can’t always do it, but I practice regularly. More often, I find the silence, and just sit in it. Robert Sardello’s book, “Silence,” (www.spiritualschool.org) might help you with this—it did for me!
Take the time today to do something that lets your soul rest and your spirit renew. Stop rushing; make some time for peace, and enjoy the renewed sense of gentle energy that comes to you.
